What is Online Counselling?

With the onset of COVID in early 2020, and the shut down of in-person communication, many businesses had to change how they operated. Similarly, Evergreen Counselling Group adapted to be able to help people during these hard times with online counselling. With the social and physical isolation that many people felt during the pandemic, there was an increase in the need for counselling help.

Although we are able to offer in-person counselling again, many people enjoy the online counselling process and we will continue to offer it post pandemic. Some people like it because of the convenience it gives – no driving to a downtown office and trying to find parking! Others appreciate the comfort of being able to have counselling sessions in their own homes. And some people feel like they can be more open and honest while on a video call. Whatever your reason is, we are excited to connect with you online!

Evergreen Counselling Group has strict guidelines to ensure the safety of citizen information online. For example, if we were to use video services that had their information servers located in the United States of America, the government there could use the Patriot Act to access that information. All of our online counselling and storage services are PHIPA & PIPEDA compliant, and 100% of our patient data is stored in Canadian servers. This is done through a partnership that we have with OWL Practice, the premier secure practice portal used by mental health practitioners in Canada. This system also allows us to offer you a personal Client Portal account, where you can message your counsellor, view and book appointments, see past appointments and make and view invoices.
