Counselling by its very nature is an intensely personal enterprise. And just as each person is different, each therapist is different as well. The counselling style which might work well for your friend or spouse may not work well for you – and that’s okay! At Evergreen Counselling Group, we want you to be confident in the connection that you have with your therapist. That is why we offer our free half and hour complimentary consultation. It is a way for both parties to get to know each other and see if this is a good fit. There is absolutely no expectation for you to continue with therapy, and your counsellor will not pressure you in any way. 

What to Expect

Generally, the 25-min complimentary consultation process is quite simple. It starts with a brief introduction from the counsellor, about what counselling is and the different protocols that are important for participants to be aware of. Then, there time for you to share about the situation that led you to seek counselling. We want this to be a safe space for you, so feel free to share as much or as little as you are comfortable with. After this, the counsellor will reflect on how they would see counselling benefiting your situation, and potentially a few practical actions you can take moving forward. To close, the counsellor and participant talk about whether they see this as a good fit and want to move forward with counselling.
