What is Academic Achievement?

50 years ago, graduating from high school was considered a good formal education. Many people did not go onto college, and those who did were able to find good jobs with only a Bachelor of Arts degree. These days, however, times have changed. Most people expect to get at least a post-secondary degree or certificate of some kind, and even then may struggle to find work. The increase in interest and competition between post-secondary students has led to immense pressures – both for those in secondary school and post-secondary school.

Academic achievement comes with levels of expectation. Students might feel pressure to get good grades to please their parents. Or they might be worried that, despite their best efforts, their chosen career path will be blocked from them. For some, obtaining good grades and a scholarship is the only way they will be able to achieve their academic goals. There are many factors that go into one’s academic performance. Unfortunately, stress is actually something that can be harmful to your studies!
