What is Sexual Addiction?
Sex is a natural part of the human experience. For many people, it is a part of their regular routine. And in and of itself, it is a good thing. For the individual participating, it releases positive endorphins that leads to feelings of a “high.” If the people participating are a couple, this experience can be one of mutual satisfaction. It can also serve to bond the pair and reaffirm the commitment to the relationship. Craving sex is normal, and there is a wide diversity in sex drives, between genders and between individuals. However, sometimes these cravings are unwelcome, intrusive, and there is an uncontrollable impulse to act on them. That is where sex can turn into a sexual addiction.
To put it simply, sexual addiction is characterized by a preoccupation with fantasies and urges that they feel cannot be controlled. These actions can be sending explicit texts and attempting to fondle others without their consent. Pornography use or sex with multiple partners is not necessarily a bad thing, unless it is undesired or causes damage to existing romantic relationships. Any activity that gives us a “high” can turn into an addiction, and sexual addiction is no different.
How Can Counselling Help with Sexual Addiction?

Together they will get an understanding of the current situation and where the participant wants to be.
